Flexible, small packaging for Hydraulan® 404

Hydraulan® is a long-standing product in the BTC portfolio. BASF has been setting the brand standard for brake fluids for more than 60 years with Hydraulan®, which has especially low viscosity and a high boiling point. Hydraulan® 404 maintains its extremely low viscosity even at temperatures of minus 20° Celsius, allowing brakes to react around 30 per cent more quickly than with conventional DOT4 products.

Handy packaging

In the past, Hydraulan® 404 was only available in drums. But now you can also purchase the brake fluid from BTC in a range of handy small containers, such as 250-millilitre, one-litre and five-litre packages, which can also be consolidated to boxes or pallets. “This makes Hydraulan® 404 an even more attractive alternative for all types of customers, throughout the process chain, even in the workshop,” emphasises Gabriele Möller, Head of Business Management Europe at BTC for the Fuel & Lubricant Solutions division.

Greater safety in winter

Hydraulan® 404 is a tailored product especially for vehicles with electronic stability systems like ESP or DSC, in which targeted braking of individual wheels prevents oversteering and swerving. It guarantees that the brake fluid does not become excessively viscous even at very low temperatures, so that braking is not delayed. BASF is the original supplier of Hydraulan® 404 to numerous automotive manufacturers, including Ford, Toyota and Volkswagen. All key manufacturers have approved the brake fluid.

Boiling point and other advantages

Hydraulan® 404 also offers many other advantages, such as a boiling point of 265° Celsius and a wet boiling point of 175° Celsius. The brake fluid is also classified in accordance with ISO 4925 and specified as Class 6. “Hydraulan® 404 also ideally complements our Glysantin® brands,” adds Möller, advising customers to contact BTC directly for detailed advice.
