Innovative galvano techniques on display at Hannover Messe

Galvanising plastics is a hot topic – not because of the temperatures triggered during the process, but due to the popularity of the process. “Galvanisation of plastics is currently the fastest growing sector in the area of surface finishing,” says Andre Cezanne, Sales Manager Europe at BTC Europe and responsible for Metal Surface Treatment within the countries of the European Union. Along with the traditional applications, such as the galvanisation of metal substrates, this technique for decorative applications is increasingly gaining importance – whether it be on shiny surfaces in the automobile industry or bathroom fittings.

BTC introduces sustainable solutions for pickling plastics without Cr VI

The current procedures are almost exclusively based on pickles that contain chromium trioxide, also known as Chrome (VI). However, the so-called REACH Regulation by the EU demands that an alternative to this chemical be found over the medium term. The product range offered by BTC Europe will soon include an innovative solution without Chrome (VI). This solution will be presented for the first time at the Hannover Messe 2015 (13 to 17 April). The stand shared by BTC Europe and BASF is located in the “World of Surface Treatment” (Hall 3).

All experts together at one stand

“Our participation at the trade fair makes it possible for customers and interested parties to discuss all issues involved in galvanisation in personal meetings. The entire Galvano team from BASF and BTC will be on hand, from developers to sales experts,” says Andre Cezanne. As one of the world's most important industrial fairs, the trade fair in Hanover provides an ideal setting for such meetings. “Often, such exchanges even result in initial ideas for new products,” reports Andre Cezanne on the experiences gained in past years.
