Waxes
Waxes as pearlizers Waxes as pearlizers give products a distinctive iridescence appearances. In addition waxes affect the sensory profile of a formulation. Cutina® waxes are malleable at ambient temperatures and stabilize emulsions. Cutina® waxes are used in shampoo, shower and bath preparations. Waxes as WO emulsifiers and cream bases Emulsifiers are surfactant types typically used to keep emulsions (mixtures of immiscib fluids) well dispersed. Emulsifiers typically have a hydrophobic (water-hating) and a hydrophilic (water-liking) end. Monomuls® 90-L 12 and Cutina® AGS are used in cosmetic W/O emulsions e.g. in shampoo und shower bath applications.
Waxes as consistency factors Consistency factors are hydrophilic waxes that build structures in the emulsion which increases the emulsion viscosity and stability. Cegesoft®, Cutina®, Lanette®, and Monomuls® waxes are used in all kind of emulsions. Waxes as lipid layer enhancer Similar to emollients, waxes affect the sensory profile of a formulation. They are malleable at ambient temperatures and stabilize emulsions as the viscosity is increased by formation of lamellar structures in oil-in-water formulations. Monomuls® 90 L12 finds applications in surfactant type washing and cleansing preparations.
