International and national regulations and directives are constant companions to the work of formulation experts. Whether a product complies with the respective specifications in the key markets is crucial for its success. BTC now has liquid pigment preparations in its product range, specifically the new shades of Puricolor®, which comply with EU Commission Regulation 1003/2014.
The Puricolor® colours are free of the previously used CIT/MIT biocides (commonly used as a bactericide). They have been replaced by the new biocide phenoxyethanol. “With five colours in total, a very wide range of colours are covered,” emphasises Gisela Herzog, Marketing & Sales Manager Europe for Colorants Home and Personal Care. The vast number of variations is one of the particular strengths of the new Puricolor® product line.
The easy use of the liquid pigment preparations is also impressive. They are easily dilutable in water and are thus particularly easy to process and dose. In addition, the Puricolor® line also offers an impressive level of colour stability. “Especially when it comes to products in the home care sector, it is important, for example, that a soap retains its original colour even after several weeks,” Herzog describes.
Another advantage is that the liquid pigment preparations from Puricolor® offer a particularly wide range of possible applications at different pH values, from 1 to 13. This, too, contributes to their diversity. Thanks to their properties, the pigments can be used in the areas of home care, personal care and fabric care.
The following liquid pigment preparations are available in the BTC portfolio:
Gisela Herzog was responsible for the Cleaning Agents division at BASF for almost 30 years, before shifting her focus to dyes three years ago. At BTC, she is responsible for Europe and the Near East. As a trained management assistant and long-time sales manager, she has always placed considerable importance on customer contact. “Colours are something positive,” she says. This division offers a wide range of combinations of topics and challenges, says Herzog – from procurement to marketing and direct contacts in the market. She likes to open talks with old business contacts from her network with the announcement: “'I'm here to put some colour into your lives.”
