BTC’s portfolio for the chemical industry comprises various products for the synthesis. Building blocks are products used in chemical reactions for example for a polymerisation process or when certain reactions are proceeded to receive the final end-product.

Properties and applications of our building blocks

Polyalkylene glycols (PAG) are useable for chemical reactions. BTC’s product portfolio comprises Pluriol® types for versatile reactions.

Classical polyethylene glycols (PEG) with low to medium molecular weight are used for the manufacturing of PEG-esters. PEG-esters are used as emulsifiers in the cosmetics, agro and chemical industries.

The used starting alcohol for the manufacturing of polyalkylene glycols determines the further processing. Mono-functional PAG types, like those produced by using Methanol (MeOH) for example, as a starting alcohol provide the terminal hydroxyl groups. To avoid crosslinking reactions within a synthesis, the monofunctionality is mandatory. Those mono-functional PAG types are used to produce polyether carboxylates (superplastizisers), see table below.

Unsaturated alcohols like allylic alcohol, or isoprenyl alcohol, allow the synthesis within a polymerization or a specific reaction like alkyl-silylation to obtain modified polyether siloxane.

Besides PAGs BTC offers Sokalan® polyacrylates for the synthesis/reactions to produce polyether carboxylates (superplastizisers).
