BTC’s range of lipids produced by BASF is named Delios®. These medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) are produced by esterifying glycerol with mixtures of caprylic (C:8) and capric (C:10) fatty acids, which are fractionated from coconut or palm kernel oils.

Properties of our lipids

The Delios® powder is specially processed to achieve superior oxidative stability and low colour and they are further refined to remove residual fatty acids, which is finally resulting in a product with essentially no odour or flavour. It complies with the current specifications established by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) and the current EU Regulation laying down specifications for food additives. Furthermore it is manufactured under ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 as well as HACCP methodology.

Stability: The product should be stored at temperatures between 16-24°C and has to be kept in a dry container and away from odor-intensive products. In its unopened original package under the mentioned conditions the product has a shelf life of 18-24 months, in tank truck 21 days.

Applications of our lipids

Delios® is standing for fat powder containing medium chain triglyceride, being characterized by excellent oxidation stability, good dissolubility in cold water and specific metabolic properties. 

The Delios® products can be used as a fat component in various kinds of food applications, with special focus in nutritional properties, e.g. as fat ingredient in functional food, sports nutrition, snack food, desserts and confectionary.
