Bleaching Agents
At BTC Europe we have a strong expertise in paper manufacturing – a fact which enables us to provide products tailor-made for the industry’s specific needs. We focus not only on the bleaching processes we examine processes from start to finish - from energy use to waste water disposal. With the BASF brands Hydrosulfite / Blankit®, you may replace an expensive raw material such as cellulose with a cheaper one like waste paper. Thereby, you reduce costs and preserve the environment. Hydrosulfite and Blankit® are white, microcrystalline powders with a sodium dithionite (Na2S2O4) as main component.
They serve mainly as a bleaching or reducing agent for applications in textile, paper or mineral industry. An additional benefit: The sensitive Hydrosulfite / Blankit® bleach does not only help to protect the environment – thanks to a reduced number of impurities, the paper fibers are also protected. Under the brand name Trilon® we additionally offer a broad product range of high performance and innovative complexing agents, also known as chelating agents. Chelating agents are able to complex metal ions. Chelating agents are able to prevent the deleterious impact of metal ions during the bleaching processes. The presence of free metal ions, such as iron, copper, manganese and magnesium, reduces efficiency of the bleaching step. Moreover, BTC Europe offers silicate solutions of alkali metals which are used in the paper and pulp industry as stabilizers for pulp bleaching.
