BTC Europe presented a cheque for 25,000 Euros to the charity SOS Children’s Villages on February 29, 2016. The donation will be used to support the organization’s youth centre in Bucharest, Romania.
“Social engagement is a high priority at BASF and at BTC we, too, wish to make our contribution,” explains Katja Scharpwinkel. “SOS Children's Villages has for years championed children, young people and families in need. We are delighted to be able to support this admirable humanitarian effort in Europe.”
“SOS Children's Villages helps the local population in Bucharest by assisting families in need with pre-school education, providing orphans with homes and setting up youth centres, for example”, explains Sabine Fuchs, CEO of Children’s Villages Global Partner.
The donation comes from the prize money that BTC won in 2015. Every year, the BASF Board of Executive Directors gives an award to employees who have contributed to the success of the company, through outstanding ideas, exceptional enterprise and remarkable performance. The winning team, BTC, decided to donate half of the 50,000-Euro prize to a good cause.
BTC employees all over Europe were able to vote for the charity that should in their view receive the money. The SOS Children's Villages emerged as the favourite.
